Victor Magwai
Food & Beverage Operations Manager
Born and raised in Limpopo, I moved to Gauteng in 2015 to begin my journey in the hospitality industry and pursue a better future for myself and my family.
My passion for hospitality started when I began working as a waiter in 2015. During the same year, I enrolled in college to study Business Management while continuing to work and gain practical experience in the hotel industry.
Through dedication, hard work, and commitment to service excellence, I was promoted to Banqueting Supervisor in 2016. This opportunity allowed me to develop strong leadership skills, operational knowledge, and experience in managing conferences, events, and guest relations.
In 2017, I moved into the role of Restaurant and Bar Supervisor, where I spent five years growing my expertise in food and beverage operations, team management, customer service, and daily restaurant operations. This experience strengthened my understanding of hospitality standards and guest satisfaction.
In 2022, I was promoted to Banqueting Manager, a role I held for two years. During this time, I successfully managed large-scale events, coordinated teams, and ensured high-quality service delivery while maintaining operational excellence within the hotel environment.
In 2024, I was given the opportunity to further my career by joining Ten Bompas Hotel as a Food and Beverage Manager, where I currently serve. This role has allowed me to expand my leadership abilities, creativity, and operational management within a luxury hospitality environment.
My journey in hospitality has been driven by passion, perseverance, and a commitment to continuous growth. I believe in delivering exceptional guest experiences, building strong teams, and maintaining high standards in every aspect of food and beverage service.

Born in the heart of KwaZulu Natal
I moved to Johannesburg in the early stages of my life to pursue a better life for myself and my family.
My background of cooking comes from home grown food, specializing in African cuisine.
I found my passion for food at The Blades Lodge and worked under Sammy Mashile and France Kutumela. working at the blades opened my eyes to more food concepts in Africa, that brought a different type of taste and feeling.
I started my career by working at the Johannesburg Country Club where I found my passion for cooking.
Thereafter I moved to The Hallmark House in which my creativity and variety of food and plating came about - I was mentored by Katlego Mlambo in where my food skills and knowledge expanded,
I developed and found a passion for fine dining food; hallmark made me see different methodologies in cooking and platting at a fine dining level.
The Love of cooking came from a loving mother that enjoyed cooking food, from different cultures from around the country and culturally food was the inspiration of becoming a chef I am today.
My career further advanced when I was given the opportunity by Sean Bartlett – My General Manager to take over as the Executive Chef at Ten Bompas Hotel, whom believed I can take Ten Bompas Hotel to a whole new level with the combination of French and South African cuisines, combining the two and ensuring each dish is rich in flavour, most of our produce is grown in our garden at the hotel.
